Wednesday's Wisdom

Hi everyone!

Hope your Wednesday is going wonderfully. My tip for the day is easy and useful.

How many of you wished you could cut down on your Amazon link for your books? I know many times I wish I could without using one of the many URL generators that shorten the length. Sure, many of your marketing programs do like HootSuite, MarketMeSuite, Tweetdeck and more.

What if you don’t have any of those yet and want to make the URL smaller. There are two ways you can do it. You can go through tinyurl.com and make yourself a new one through them. You can also delete much of the Amazon link itself and still go to the purchase page of your book.

Here are some examples from my own books:

The link for my book, The Harvester, looks something like this when you go to Amazon to copy it:

That link is horribly long and a lot of it is useless. You take that link above and delete everything after the B00 number, like this:

Now these two links will go to the exact same place. Try it out.

Here’s another example:

The link for my short, Oasis in the Desert, looks like this:

Again the link is long and much of it is useless. Here’s the shorter version:

Now this is not something I discovered for myself but from another author. D. Renee Bagby has a lot of information on her site and even more when you talk to her. Go discover the many wonderful things she has to offer at http://dreneebagby.com/.

I’ll see you next week!

  1. Thank you, Lynn! I've been wondering about this. The longer one looks so clunky.
