Star Alignment

See made you look...LOL!

Truthfully, this past week has not been my time for lining up industry professionals to do our WIP Wednesday. Frankly, I have to partly to blame the internet and the rest on me.

As many of you know, I live in Vienna, Austria. Most of the time, the internet service is okay but not stellar. This week, it really hasn't even hit the okay mark for me. This may be due to the speed, my computer or a variety of other things. Actually, it is a variety of other things because the computer has been acting wonky too...is that a word...wonky?

In lieu of WIP Wednesday this week, here is a list of wonderful blogs that readers and writers might be interested in. Please enjoy these tidbits as the lineup of industry professionals is finalized.

Brenda Hiatt has always been a source of wonderful information regarding how the publishing industry pays. Here’s her information on the earnings of indies. http://brendahiatt.com/show-me-the-money/indie-earnings/

Dr. Debra Holland is an amazing woman that has written both fiction and non-fiction books. One her blog you can find out how she does it and it includes some money tidbits as well. http://www.drdebraholland.blogspot.com/

If you are thinking about taking the epublishing plunge, then this is the site for you. The Writers Guide to ePublishing is a very book and realistic site on what it really means to be an e-author. The website

http://thewritersguidetoepublishing.com gives tons of statistics and lists other resources as well. Visit the author D.D. Scott at her regular blog, http://ddscottauthor.blogspot.com, to get even more interesting news about this fabulous author. She shares her sales numbers and stats.

Ever  wonder just how many book bloggers there are out there? Want to see if someone other than the normal social media channels has read a book? Then this website may be for you. http://bookbloggerdirectory.wordpress.com/ is a site with a directory full of listings and book blogger sites.

The website of Kristine Kathryn Rusch is a must for any writer and is absolutely awesome. Here's the website http://kriswrites.com/ and try reading the Business Rusch, you’ll see what I mean. It’s great for both readers and writers. She is traditionally published, an editor and a romance writer to boot.

Excellent article on self-epublished authors and the best seller lists of USA Today. http://www.usatoday.com/life/books/news/story/2011-12-14/self-published-authors-ebooks/51851058/1

Ever wonder just how you can search the Apple iBookstore. Well I have so I guess that puts me in the not-so-tech-savvy group. Here’s the majic link: http://itunes.apple.com/us/genre/books/id38?mt=11.

There are many authors doing the self-epublishing thing today and some of those tell you how much they’re earning. Not many tell you how much they spent to get that book ready for publication. I try to put a little perspective into the lucrative field of self-epublishing by telling the hard numbers. Check it  out at http://lynncrain.blogspot.com/2012/01/hard-numbers.html to see just how much I spent on putting a book on all the electronic avenues.

All the information is from my upcoming book, The Little Book of Lists for Self-ePublishing, slated to come out later this year. I hope you find the articles informative and well worth your reading time. Next week, you can expect someone’s work-in-progress log line and an industry professional to help them along.

See you all then!
